Memorial Day Cocktail Recipes

Whether you are still quarantining or making your way out this weekend, here are some awesome cocktail recipes to kick off Summer 2020:

John Collins:

A simple, light and refreshing cocktail that is perfect for being enjoyed in the sun. And if you prefer vodka over gin, simply switch out the gin for vodka to make a Vodka Collins.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz of Gin
  • 1/2 oz of simple syrup
  • 1 oz of lemon juice
  • 2 oz of club soda
  • 1 dash of angostura bitters (about 8 drops)
  • Lemon slice and cherry for garnish

Instructions: Fill cocktail glass with ice. Pour in gin, simple syrup and lemon juice. Stir together. Top it off with club soda and a dash of bitters. Garnish with cherry and lemon slice.

Watermelon White Wine Spritzer

Attractive, easy to make and even easier to drink, this fruit based drink may quickly become your new summer favorite.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of cubed watermelon
  • 1 table spoon of agave nectar
  • 2 cups of white wine
  • 2 cups of club soda
  • Watermelon wedge for garnish

Instructions: Add the watermelon and agave nectar into a food processor or blender, and pulse until smooth. If desired, pour through a cheesecloth to strain. Divide the mixture among 4 rocks glasses. Top with equal parts white wine and club soda (about 1/2 cup each). Garnish with watermelon wedges.

Bourbon & Root Beer

As Simple and American as it gets. This basic refreshing combination is an easy go to all summer long. You can even add a small scoop of vanilla ice cream for a spiked float.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz of Bourbon
  • 6 oz of Root Beer

Instructions: Pour the bourbon into a glass or pint over ice. Add the root beer and stir slowly. Serve with a straw.

Although we may not see the same amount of festivals, gatherings, and picnics this year, we here at The Cutlery Shop would like to wish everyone a very Happy and Healthy Memorial Day!
